  • "I can’t say enough about Carrie, she works very hard to prepare the classes and give the right cues to guide us and teach by example. Her classes sometimes are very large but she does her best to make sure each of her students get the attention they need. She gives good guidance when a tweak is necessary to correct a position that could be better or could cause a problem. She shows sincere interest in what we are doing and how we do it, not just in a class but also in other life areas. She shares with her peeps what is going on in her life too, which gives a good feeling of inclusion. The classes are not only work but fun. I came with ongoing chronic back pain and she told me something which I felt was invaluable. Maybe my pain/ discomfort may never go completely away but participation in the classes might just keep things from getting any worse. I have made this my goal and motivation."

  • "Transformative training has been my goal for many years, and I have worked with personal trainers at each decade of my life starting in my 40s. All my prior trainers have been good, but Carrie has surpassed them all; she has listened to my concerns and worked to develop a transformative program to address my concerns.  Everyone before fit my issues into a pre-arranged program that unfortunately didn’t focus on my concerns.  We have been training together for only a few short months, and I have lost ten pounds, and two inches from my waist. I have vascularity in my arms, and more importantly improved my posture and added strength to my daily work. I have been training constantly since July 1978 so I have a lot of experience with weight training and I have an extensive baseline with which to evaluate our progress. I can easily say this is the most progress I have made.  And of course, the experience has been both enjoyable and productive.   • "I reluctantly started Carrie’s classes less than a year after my back surgery in October 2017.    I immediately felt comfortable and safe with Carrie’s expertise.  I was going to 2-3 classes a week.  I now go every day for two hours.  I  am continually amazed how tuned in Carrie is to everyone’s condition.  She truly cares about each and every one of us. The camaraderie of the group is nothing like I have ever found.   My day just isn’t complete if I have to miss class.    I am very grateful to be a part of this.   Yes, I feel stronger every day.   Carrie is my daily inspiration and exceptional at what she  does.  More personals are in my future as this only helps what I can do or not do in class."

  • "I started taking classes 2 times per week with just Pilates.  I had constant lower back pain. As a grandmother who very frequently babysits 8 grandkids, i was always running into set-backs.  Back pain was frequent and significant.  As Carrie added other classes - balance, sculpt, and cardio, I am now attending 10 classes per week.  I have strengthened my core muscles significantly and my set-backs are few and far between.   The classes are highly motivational.  Carrie runs an outstanding program.  I love it!!  The personal sessions point out what i am doing incorrectly.  They help tremendously to understand how to correct and improve my exercise program.  At age 69, Carrie’s classes have changed my life.  I am stronger than I have ever been.  Thank you Carrie!"

  • "I was looking for more effective exercise program and knew I needed to improve my posture and core strength. A friend highly recommended VTFC.  I Started with 2 classes/week; moved up to 3; in the past month have discontinued another exercise program and upped my attendance to at least 7 sessions to week.  I have seen Significant improvement on flexibility, core strength and posture training. Especially important is the expert guidance on proper positioning and the program that enable safe and notable improvement. I  really enjoy the Challenging yet enjoyable sessions with group camaraderie and lots of laughing and personal connections.  My personal sessions have given me key points to improve walking, certain positions in classes, particular issues that I have. Those pointers have been very effective and I employ them to this day.  Carrie is the perfect combination of challenging, encouraging and knowing how to move us to our best performance without pushing us to a damaging place"

  • "I have been a patient at the Virginia Spine Institute for at least 15 years. I have been seeing Larry and Rich at VTFC since they began their collaboration with VSI.  I began attending classes when they were first offered by a different Pilates /Fitness specialist, and so I feel I have a reasonable amount of history with the whole VTFC, having been lucky enough to watch it grow and even more lucky to have benefited so greatly by it.  Carrie has been absolutely a terrific addition to VTFC.  She brings a wealth of knowledge and enthusiasm that is unparalleled. Carrie knows , most importantly , that while building strength and stability is key, we are a special population, each with different needs and goals.  We also each have different physical challenges that we have to deal with each day.  I am most sincere when I say that I have never had a more caring , efficient, and knowledgeable trainer and guide through this difficult journey of back issues.  Carrie has a special way of getting hard work out of each of us, tailored very much for each individual.  
    I believe the growth of the class and the loyalty of its members speaks volumes. The members of the class have become quite close; the class atmosphere is always fun and I look forward to attending as much as I can, which is normally several times a week.  I have also had personal training sessions with Carrie which were enormously helpful as I was dealing with an ususal medical issue that involved occlusion of arteries. Carrie worked hard with me to develop coping strategies, and to build muscle and collateral vessels.  I can’t express  how much I appreciate her contribution to my recovery.  I hope my words convey the truly vital impact Carrie has had on my well being and the well being of the class. She is truly a huge asset to VTFC and I hope to work with her for many years to come."

  • "Carrie remembers what the individual’s issues are and relates what is done in class to individual exercises and how to do them for maximum benefit.  I loved the Wellness Workshop on Explaining Pain(and our relationship with it). It gave a very good perspective on how to approach pain.  Carrie  has shown me how to do everything (everyday tasks/exercises) without stressing my knees resulting in less overall pain.  I feel a new liberation for the ability to resume activity that I have not felt for decades."
